You get one cookie: a security code every form here needs, so that another website cannot vote or send anything in your name. There is nothing about you in it, and it has no expiry date: your browser throws it away when your session ends. Usually that is when you close the browser, but not if it restores your tabs.

Your browser also remembers whether you want light or dark, which brands you have already revealed, and whether you have seen how the stack works. That stays on your own device; the site never gets to see it.

With your first vote you get a cookie with a random code, valid for a year. That is how the site recognises your votes, so that you answer each term once and can change your answer. With that code we keep your answer per term and when you gave it, for as long as the term is in the register.

To stop someone from voting again and again with a fresh cookie, we turn your IP address into a code. All it lets us do is count how many new voters came from the same address today. The address itself is not kept. At the end of the day we throw the codes away, together with the key they were made with.

We keep the row you fill in, and your name and email address only if you give them. As soon as we have decided on your submission it is deleted, whether your word goes into the register or not.

Your name goes with the trademark if you want it to, and stays for as long as the trademark is in the register. Your email address is never published, and we only email you about your submission. If we do, that message stays in our sent mail afterwards.

Here too we turn your IP address into a code, to limit the number of submissions per hour. We throw those codes away every hour.

If you pick a language yourself, with the flags at the top or in the menu, you get a cookie holding only that choice, valid for a year. From then on the site's main address opens in that language, even if your browser asks for another.

If you never pick one, you never get it: the site then only looks at the language your browser sends along, and remembers nothing of it. To have the site follow your browser again, delete the cookie.

No adverts, no analytics, no trackers. The site loads nothing from anyone else and keeps no log of visitors. We sell nothing and share nothing.

Your name and email address you give yourself, with your consent, and you can always withdraw it. For the rest there is a legitimate interest: a vote and a submission form that cannot be abused endlessly. The cookies need no consent: every form needs the security cookie, you only get the voting cookie when you vote yourself, and the language cookie only when you pick a language yourself.

You may ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object. Your votes are the one thing we cannot look up for you: we do not know which ones are yours, and your cookie is the only key. Delete it, and your votes can no longer be tied to you.

For a submission or your name in the register: email us and we will take it down. If you think we are not handling your data properly, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
